When Districts Are Overwhelmed...
Every delayed evaluation represents a student waiting for answers.
Threads of Growth Educational Diagnostics partners with Texas school districts to provide experienced educational diagnostic support through a collaborative virtual practice built on communication, organization, and professional excellence.
Rather than replacing your team, I become an extension of it.
Meet Lidia
Hello, and welcome!
My name is Lidia Olvera-Garza, and I am a Texas Certified Educational Diagnostician with more than twenty years of experience serving students, families, and educators.
Before becoming an Educational Diagnostician, I spent many years as a classroom teacher and special educator. Those experiences continue to shape how I approach every evaluation today. I understand the challenges teachers face, the questions parents bring to the evaluation process, and the importance of providing recommendations that are practical, meaningful, and centered on student success.
I hold both a Master of Arts in Education and a Master of Science in Special Education, and I specialize in providing comprehensive virtual educational evaluations for Texas school districts.
My philosophy is simple:
Every evaluation should provide clarity, build understanding, and create opportunities for students to succeed.

How I Partner with School Districts
Every Comprehensive Evaluation Begins with Collaboration
Educational evaluations are most successful when they are built on strong partnerships. My role is to work alongside administrators, teachers, related service providers, and families to develop a comprehensive understanding of each student's educational needs.
Every evaluation follows a thoughtful, organized process designed to answer meaningful educational questions—not simply administer tests.
Referral: Understanding the Need
Every evaluation begins by working closely with administrators, teachers, and other campus professionals to develop a clear understanding of the student's educational concerns. Drawing on my years as both a classroom teacher and Educational Diagnostician, I listen carefully to each team member's perspective to ensure the evaluation addresses the questions that matter most.
Records Review: Building the Educational Story
A thorough records review provides valuable insight into the student's educational history, previous interventions, academic progress, attendance, assessment data, and instructional supports.
Using secure, encrypted technology and district-approved systems—including platforms such as SuccessEd, Frontline, Panorama, and other district information systems—I conduct confidential record reviews while maintaining FERPA-conscious practices and protecting sensitive student information.
Teacher Collaboration: The Classroom Perspective
Teachers provide some of the most valuable information during an evaluation because they observe students every day across a variety of learning situations.
Using structured interviews and my Threads of Growth Classroom Observation Framework, I gather meaningful information regarding:
Academic engagement
Learning behaviors
Executive functioning
Classroom participation
Social interactions
Communication skills
Instructional supports
Student strengths and challenges
This collaborative process creates a richer picture than a single classroom observation alone.
Parent Partnership: Every Family Has a Story
Parents are essential members of the evaluation team.
Throughout my career, I have developed strong relationships with families by explaining the evaluation process in clear, understandable language while creating a welcoming environment where questions are encouraged.
Families deserve more than information.
They deserve understanding.
My goal is to ensure parents feel informed, respected, and supported throughout the entire evaluation process.
Observation Framework: Looking Beyond a Single Moment
Student performance cannot be understood through a brief observation alone.
Using my structured observation framework and collaboration with teachers and campus staff, I collect comprehensive information regarding:
Academic performance
Learning styles
Social-emotional functioning
Classroom participation
Executive functioning
Communication
Independence
Behavioral supports
Student strengths
This approach allows the evaluation to reflect the student's daily educational experience rather than a single snapshot in time.
Assessment Planning: Choosing the Right Assessments
Every assessment should answer an educational question.
Rather than administering unnecessary tests, I use a Core Selective Evaluation Process (CSEP) that integrates referral concerns, teacher input, record review, parent information, and observational data to determine the most appropriate assessment battery.
This individualized approach helps ensure that every assessment contributes meaningful information while avoiding unnecessary testing.
Comprehensive Report Development: Turning Data into Educational Decisions
Assessment data is carefully analyzed and integrated into comprehensive reports that are clear, organized, and legally defensible.
Each report is written to support educational decision-making while presenting information in language that educators and families can understand.
My goal is not simply to report scores—but to tell the student's educational story.
ARD & Eligibility Meetings: Bringing the Team Together
The evaluation process concludes with collaboration.
During ARD and eligibility meetings, I work alongside administrators, teachers, specialists, and families to explain evaluation results, answer questions, and support informed educational decisions.
Having worked extensively as both an educator and Educational Diagnostician, I strive to communicate findings in a manner that is professional, compassionate, and meaningful to every member of the team.
Follow-Up Support: The Partnership Continues
An evaluation is not the end of the process.
I remain available to answer questions, provide clarification, collaborate with campus staff, and support implementation of recommendations as districts continue working toward positive outcomes for students.
My commitment extends beyond the final report because meaningful educational progress is built through ongoing collaboration.

The Story Behind
Threads of Growth
The name Threads of Growth is deeply personal.
My mother was a gifted seamstress who taught me that individual threads, when carefully woven together, create something both beautiful and strong.
That image has stayed with me throughout my career.
Educational evaluations are much the same.
No single assessment score tells a student's story. Instead, meaningful evaluations weave together assessment results, classroom performance, teacher observations, family perspectives, developmental history, and professional expertise to create a complete understanding of a student's unique strengths and needs.
Every thread matters.
When those threads are thoughtfully connected, they create opportunities for students to receive the support, services, and educational experiences they deserve.
That belief inspired the name Threads of Growth Educational Diagnostics and continues to guide every evaluation I conduct.
